Mental Health First Aid England has reported that 46% of workers say they’ve worked in recent months despite not feeling physically or mentally well enough to perform their duties. The majority of our workforce are full time workers and we're aiming to create a working environment that is supportive and we take care of each other. Over the next few months we're training 200 people in Mental Health First Aiders across our business to help us spot, understand, and help our teammates when they might need us most. Thank you Corin & Co for partnering with us.
This week, as our bakers turned off the ovens, we headed to join our friends GAIL's Bakery for a summer party! We gathered at the lively Between the Bridges venue on Southbank to celebrate the hard work our teams have been up to as well as have a good time. The party was a foodie's dream, with delicious treats, great drinks, and lots of dancing. We laughed, we chatted, and connected with each other. Thank you to the incredible teams who helped plan and organised the whole event, we all had a truly "dough-lightful" time!
The current unemployment rate stands at 4.4%, but guess what? In our borough and neighbouring boroughs, the rates are as high as 7%. That's why we're on a mission to lower those numbers and help more people craft their careers. We visited a local careers fair organised by BOOST Employment Support, where we had an incredible experience and the chance to meet the friendly faces behind the CVs. Not only were we able to learn about their skills, but also got to know them a little bit better, which helped us to find them their perfect role. We're excited to continue our mission by attending the Shaw Trust job fair this Friday. If you see us around, don't be shy to come and say hello! #craftyourcareer

Did you know that The Institute of Learning found that 42% of adults in the UK have taken part in learning since 2020? We're dedicated to offering development to our teams, supporting them to craft their careers in many different directions. It fills us with pride that we've celebrated 11 internal promotions in the last 5 months. Learning is continuous and we know it's important for personal growth, as well as professional growth. Last week, to celebrate Learning at Work Week, we crafted a program full of masterclasses such as cake decorating, craft gin tasting, sign language, book club, presentation skills, that were hosted by some of the most inspirational specialists. A special thanks to Graham Wilson, Alice Connor, and Liggy Webb, for joining us and inspiring 42% of our craftspeople who joined the sessions. Here's to another year of putting learning at the heart of our craft.
Every quarter, both Talent and recruitment teams from GAIL's Bakery and The Bread Factory come together for a team huddle to celebrate wins, share ideas, talk through what's coming up next, finishing the day with a team building activity. And what a better way than axe throwing?! The same way they aim to hit the nail on the head when attracting and hiring the best people to join our teams, they showed an impressive aim for bullseye on the target board. Whilst this was meant to be a friendly activity, it took less than a minute for our competitive sides to shine through with name chanting and our hosts Game of Throwing (Hammersmith) having to settle a debate of scoring. Needless to say, the team had a great time. Note, no talent or recruitment team members were harmed during this activity.
Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the doors of The Bread Factory?
