1 to 100! In 1993 Gail Mejia brought the best bakers in town to create bread for London’s top chefs and restaurants. Creating us... The Bread Factory. We took a step into the retail world and opened our first GAILs in Hampstead in 2005. Now we've hit a crazy milestone and opened the doors of our 100th neighborhood bakery! This would not be possible without the continued support and work of our teams at The Bread Factory and GAIL’s. Therefore, we have entered everyone into a lottery and will be giving a lucky 100 people an extra day of holiday
Today is Diwali, a festival celebrating the victory of light and knowledge. For some of our people at The Bread Factory, it will be their first Diwali away from home. We’d like to celebrate with all of our people, so as the fireworks light up the skies and the celebrations begin, we’re with you all…Happy Diwali!
Our Central Kitchen Teams is working with a new partner to provide seasonal soups to our GAIL’s bakeries. They source fresh fruit and vegetables when they are in season, meaning that our ingredients are packed with natural goodness. Working with independent farmers which actively support sustainable farming. Thanks to our farmers, you can now enjoy weekly soup specials served with our freshly baked sourdough at your neighbourhood GAIL’s bakery.
Recently The Bread Factory invited applicants to meet our teams and have a production tour. We do this because we want them to see what we do and choose us. This was led by Chidi Obi our Packing Manager. After the event, the Talent team looked back on what went well and what they could improve on, during this discussion we discussed these words from Chidi and it made me think… We’ve seen a lot of companies sharing their stories that highlight diversity in their teams. With National Inclusion Week ending, and Black History Month starting, this example of accepting everybody is REAL. Kudos Chidi Obi
Meet Leon, our latest career crafter. He joined our Pastry Team at the beginning of the year. While learning how to create our delicious cakes and pastries, not only did his knowledge grow but so did his interest in the ingredients that we use. With this growing curiosity, he decided to apply for a position in our Supply Chain Team and was successful. We’d like to congratulate him on being the new ingredient in our Supply Chain world. 😊 We love watching people grow. The late great Queen Elizabeth was a valued customer of ours, awarding us a Royal Warrant for our long service to her and the royal household. We have proudly held this since 2017. We were lucky enough to have a visit from @thebbc who were celebrating the companies that served the queen.
