Today is #GivingTuesday, a global generosity movement powered by communities. Thomson Reuters’ commitment to the communities in which we live and work is delivered through various programs that have been established to ensure robust, consistent, and sustainable community and societal support. Teammates can have their monetary donations doubled via our Matching Gifts program, earn grants for their volunteer time via our Volunteer Rewards program, and receive 16 hours of paid time off each year to volunteer. In 2022, teammates logged over 68,000 volunteer hours and donated nearly $1.4 million to over 1,400 nonprofits in a dozen different countries through our programs. How will you make an impact today?
"When people ask me why I'm so happy working at Thomson Reuters, a number of things come to mind. We have incredible benefits, dedicated days to recharge and take care of our mental health, opportunities to make an impact in our communities, beautiful offices designed for collaboration, and programs that enable flexible work. In October, I took advantage of our Work from Anywhere policy to spend a week in Germany. I got to experience Oktoberfest and visit my brother while exploring the beautiful country."
"As the Head of Professional Services and Solutions Consulting in our Corporates Segment for almost three years, I have the pleasure of working with customers, partners, and employees every day. My job is about helping people find the right solution for their tax, trade, legal, and compliance needs while ensuring that Thomson Reuters is a great place to work for employees. Part of Thomson Reuters being such a great place to work is the value we place on our business resource groups, including our Veterans Network. I come from a long line of service members, my grandfathers and father all served. My grandfather fought in WWII, in Korea, and alongside my father in Vietnam. My sister and I carried forward this tradition, serving in the US Army and marrying fellow service members, with my sister and brother-in-law serving in Bosnia/Croatia. This is the first time in almost 100 years that a member of my immediate family is not serving in the military. I continue to carry my service forward as the executive sponsor of our Veterans Network in Dallas. Our teammates do an amazing job of educating our colleagues on the hardships of serving, the difficulties of transitioning to civilian life, and the mental and physical scars veterans carry. Understanding the impact of serving in the military is as important as we look to create inclusion, equity, and belonging for all. I am proud to be a part of this company as a Veteran, a leader, and a team member." Maria, Dallas

Every year, our teammates have two paid Mental Health Days Off: one in May and one in October. Last Monday marked our second Global Mental Health Day Off in 2023. Thomson Reuters teammates across the globe took time to recharge and reflect. Discover how some of our teammates spent this meaningful day.
A few weeks ago, our London office hosted a business resource group event. In London, we have six local chapters: Pride at Work, Women at Thomson Reuters, the Black Employee Network, the Disability Employee Network, the Early Careers Network, and the Veterans Network. This event provided an excellent opportunity to promote awareness and understanding of the diverse backgrounds and experiences represented throughout our organization. We were able to connect and engage in meaningful conversations. The team was also able to raise £400 for the Trussell Trust, an organization committed to ending hunger and poverty in the UK through the bake sale at the event. A big thank you to everyone who came out to connect with our teammates!
"I discovered Thomson Reuters offers a sabbatical program for employees as part of our Flex My way benefits program. The sabbatical program launched last year provides colleagues the opportunity to take up to six months of unpaid leave every five years. After learning more about it, I knew it was the reset I needed." Bethany, a Vice President in Digital Marketing, shares how she was able to find balance and magic through both work and rest as part of her sabbatical journey. Read Bethany's full story here:
"Last week, I made good use of the Thomson Reuters Work from Anywhere policy to visit Singapore, and I was able to check a major item off my bucket list: experience the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix. I have wanted to visit Singapore for ages and cherished every minute of this perfect trip. Thank you to all the old and new friends who made time to catch up. I will definitely be back soon!" What does connection mean to you? Throughout October, Thomson Reuters has chosen to focus on the importance of connection as we recognize Mental Health Month. Today, in honor of World Mental Health Day, we’re sharing a story from one of our teammates about the power of connection with a colleague who has become a lifelong friend. “I had never been camping, canoeing, or portaging. With my father passing away when I was young, I didn’t get a chance to experience those stereotypical father/son adventures. Now that I am a father of young kids, I want to provide those experiences for my children and I know the benefits it can have to your mental health. So when my friend and colleague, Jeff, invited me to join him and his friends on a group trip to the Boundary Waters in Northern Minnesota, I jumped at the opportunity. I landed in Minneapolis carrying my life in two bags and embarked on a week-long adventure that included exploring black sand beaches, navigating challenging portages, encountering a mama moose and her baby, and witnessing shooting stars. I'm thankful for the opportunity to connect with fantastic people in my organization and for a team that allowed me to disconnect from the internet for the first time in my career. If there's one thing I'd like to convey, it's to make the most of your flexible benefits, embrace the unknown, prioritize your mental health, and say yes to life's opportunities.” Jeff, Director of Engineering, United States
