We are happy to announce that we've signed a lease agreement with the airport company BER - Berlin Brandenburg Airport to build a hangar at our BER base. Having already opened our first line maintenance station outside the UK at BER last summer the construction of our own hangar there is the next logical step. The hangar will provide space for simultaneous work on four aircraft up to the size of the Airbus A321. Stephan Erler, Country Manager Germany said: "For 17 years, we have been committed to the Berlin-Brandenburg capital region as a home carrier. The investment in our first maintenance hangar outside the UK at BER underlines the strategic importance of our base in Europe for easyJet’s network and the close partnership with FBB. Having already opened our first line maintenance station in 2020, the construction of the hangar is the next logical step and signals the long-term sustainability of our location at BER." Construction work of the new hangar is scheduled to start in 2021, with maintenance operations planned from early 2023. #easyjet #BER #helloBER

Michelle and Sarah wanted to mark their flight together to highlight the importance of encouraging more young people to consider a pilot career in the future and drive greater diversity in the flight deck. Michelle said: “Moments like this don’t happen very often at all. In my 10 years of flying, it’s very rare that I get to fly with someone who looks like me and that’s exactly why I had to share this picture. As black, female pilots we know that we are such a minority within the pilot community and part of that is due to lack of representation and role models. We hope that young people see this picture and feel inspired and encouraged to achieve their goals, regardless of the barriers that might be in their way. We hope that young people feel empowered to breakdown stereotypes and not be defined by them.” Improving diversity in the pilot community continues to be an important focus for us and by continuing to raise the profile of the career through visible role models, we want ensure there is a diverse community of aspiring pilots for the future. #easyjet #easyjetcareers
