Pros

-Above average salary for area. -Free parking. -Good pension contribution from company.

Cons

I left this job during my probation period as quite frankly I was shocked at the difference between the company as portrayed in the recruitment process and reality. -I was approached by a Recruitment Consultant on behalf of S & N for a role with one job title. When the job offer e-mail came it had a different job title. When the confirmation letter came it had a third job title. I asked the Recruitment Consultant why the different titles and was told S & N had made a mistake. No they hadnt. On my first day I asked the recruiting manager and she advised that as they had had such difficulty in filling the role, HR had advised to advertise under different job titles to see if people would apply, presumably without realising which job they were applying for. -Still on my first day, I opened my allotted desk to find it full of the possesions of an employee. When I asked whose these were I was told that they belonged to 'one of your predecessors'. The manager admitted that if she had known they were there she would have removed them so I would have been non the wiser. -On my second day I found a note to a Recruitment Consultant which advised that S & N had advertised internally with no success and had had a number of external applicants who hadnt lasted. This confirmed what I was being told by other people that I was just the latest in a long string of candidates for this role, all of whom had left very quickly. -In awareness meetings with other areas, a common theme was that they couldnt believe how the recruiting manager had managed to keep going with the workload, pressure and stress. When I queried this with her she confirmed she had been off sick whilst in role, but still had to answer e-mails and calls whilst ill. The same whilst on annual leave, even if abroad on holiday. This was certainly not the job as portrayed at the interview and the overall impression I had was that S & N were desperate to fill this role by any means possible. If I had been aware of the true situation I wouldnt have gone anywhere near this role or company.

Pros

FTSE 50 company- looks fantastic on your CV.

Cons

S&N is continuously going through restructuring and there is little job security. Poor salary packages, because senior management seem to have forgotten that employees should be the company's most valuable asset. Instead, at S&N, employees = costs. This aggressive cost saving culture has left many employees unhappy. Little/no focus on the longer term- the executive team seem to be so focused on delivering short-term value and obtaining their own short-term benefits.

Pros

nice offices and not much else

Cons

Incompetent country managements lack race and gender diversity in middle management and almost 0 in senior management in UK. Sadly not a reflection of the country nor the people we serve. promotions are based on professional relationships and not merit.
