We were proud to celebrating World Mental Health Day. To help mark the occasion, Dan and Helen raised awareness of what can be done to ensure that people with mental health problems feel supported. Well done to the team for facilitating some crucial and thought-provoking conversations.
Colleagues in Asda House were asked to trial our new coconut and vanilla popcorn today. It was great to hear their great feedback and we can’t wait to see this landing in store! A big thank you to Tracey and the team for helping to gather our thoughts!
Our technology team were at Bradford Girls' Grammar School on Wednesday, sharing their experiences of how and why they got in to the field. There were some great discussions around the evolving role of technology in retail and the part that an individual can play in creating change. Well done to the team for playing their part in inspiring the STEM talent of the future!
Colleagues from across the business went behind the scenes last week to create a film that celebrates some of the best examples of what it means to work as a team here at Asda. A great chance to celebrate and communicate with our colleagues up and down the country! Featured here, we have Hayley and Brian from the Learning and Development Team!
Happy Little Helpers shopping lists are now available in more than 300 of our larger stores to make trips to the supermarket less stressful for autistic children. They were created by our brilliant Middlesbrough colleague Jenny, whose five-year-old son Charlie has non-verbal autism, to keep children interested and engaged during shopping trips.
The UK Intelligent Markdown Project Team were in Arkansas last week to meet with the Walmart colleagues they are working with on a new dynamic pricing system designed to minimize waste. The global team, with representatives from the Technology and Business teams, speak every week and it’s been great to see some of the stores where this innovation is already in action!
Yesterday, we welcomed 46 graduates, including 14 of our existing colleagues, to join us on our brand new rotational graduate programme. They will start by spending 6 months in a retail setting before specialising in one of our retail, commercial or operational functions. Are you studying or have you graduated recently? Keep an eye on this page for more details of our programme and the upcoming opportunities for 2018.
Ever wanted to try our Extra Special Cornish Sea Salted Caramel Ice Cream? Across our stores and, thanks to Anne, in Asda House today, you can!
Our Produce Team are in the Asda House development kitchens today, working to identify the perfect chocolate sauce to accompany their strawberries in the run up to Valentine's Day 2018. The burning questions of the day: "Which sauce?" and "How many strawberries can you dip per pot?" Questions we'd all volunteer to answer!
The Run For All series continues and it's been great to see so many of our colleagues supporting charities close to their hearts over a number of very active weekends! There's still time to sign up to the Bury, Sheffield and Leicester races if you too would like to get involved at: http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vQlhO #AsdaFoundation
