We are thrilled to confirm our second Grocer 33 Store of the week this month! Congrats to Asda Dundee and manager Scott Gregor on a big win in the #Grocer33's Store of the Week competition this week. You can read some highlights of his interview and how the started his career with ASDA: "Did you always want a career in retail? I was an Asda colleague at university, then joined the graduate programme. I’ve been a GSM for 20 years, this is my seventh store and I’ve been manager here for just under four years. I’ve seen a lot of change: first with Walmart selling Asda, and the ownership change more recently. It’s been a difficult couple of years for Asda. What’s it been like for you? As a store, we’ve had great sales performance over the past three years – so it’s been good from that perspective. But it’s been challenging, and it’s been harder for managers to run their areas of the store as well as they would like to. It’s started to change in the past year. There’s been more positivity in the business, which has come from us going back to what we’re good at: the basics. Not just Rollback, we’re much more focused on the standards the customers expect. Tough times, but we’re moving in the right direction." Huge congratulations to Rachel Kennick and all of our fantastic colleagues at Southport for being named this week's Store of the Week in The Grocer 33! Rachel says the impressive score of 92/100 is a testament to the hard work of her "fabulous team" and credits the return of Rollback for being "brilliant" in restoring "Asda's DNA." The store received high praise from The Grocer's shopper, who vowed to shop there on a regular basis and noted they were "made to feel an important part of the shopping experience - a feat [they] doubt will ever be replicated elsewhere." A massive well done once again to Rachel and all of our colleagues at Southport! 👏💚 You can read more here - https://lnkd.in/e83h6NdW Credit: The Grocer/Patrick Trollope 📸

Asda will donate the equivalent of one million meals during the start of 2025, as part of a brand-new “Winter Fruit and Veg pledge” with FareShare and the Coronation Food Project. Running from January to March, the initiative will see over 420 tonnes of fresh fruit and vegetables donated to the UK’s biggest charity fighting hunger and tackling food waste. The donation will support FareShare’s nationwide network of charities including afterschool and breakfast clubs, homelessness shelters, and older people’s lunch clubs. As many families face rising heating bills, FareShare will face even greater demand during the colder months, and is expected to deliver 50million meals over the winter period. A variety of fruit & vegetables will be donated as part of the project*, including carrots, parsnips, cabbage, sprouts, pears, grapes, citrus fruits, and potatoes. The donations will be provided via Asda’s wholly owned subsidiary IPL, and continues the support provided by IPL and Asda as part of the Coronation Food Project in 2023. IPL & Asda were an original partner to pledge support to the project and provided 1.2m Christmas dinners during the first initiative – supporting nearly 4000 charities and over 450,000 individual beneficiaries.
We're delighted to announce that the Technical Centre of Excellence for Asda Logistics Services has received the Investors in People (IIP) Platinum award! The IIP awards assesses businesses against nine key indicators around people and leadership areas, helping to drive standards of excellence and develop our colleagues. Only 7% of 50,000 companies hold the Platinum membership, so having been Gold members since 2022, we’re proud to receive this award as a clear indication of our continued investment in colleagues 🌟💚
The Gnome of Christmas Last month, our Gnome of Christmas TV ad went live, and the public have been falling in love with Asda’s Gnomies ever since. The animated adventure features a team of garden gnomes who rise up from the snow to save Christmas. Max, Gnibbles, Gnorma, Gnicky and Gnarla are the stars of this year’s advert and they each spring into action to help Asda colleagues, Maggie and Bill, as they set about transforming their store for Christmas after a snowstorm stopped all but them arriving at work. With over 3.7M views and counting on Youtube, the 2024 Christmas ad and its tiny protagonists have taken the country by storm. Lots of customers have even been taking their favourite Gnomes home, as the festive favourites are also available to buy in stores and online for just £7. Talking about the ad, one shopper commented: ‘Love it! Makes everything sound fun and Gnomely – just like Christmas should be!’. Another said ‘This year’s best Christmas advert. Nothing will beat it.’ Have you seen our advert yet?
