We spoke to Mark Weare, our Estates Manager, he said: ‘The spaces my team manage are made up of both Leasehold and Freehold Assets. Day to day we undertake both practical and professional work to ensure all of our stores can trade to their full potential. We solve issues that may arise with landlords, local authorities or the local community, as well as managing lease renewals, rent reviews, and property transactions. Our lovely colleague Lorraine gave us that Friday feeling by sharing her thoughts on Yammer recently, we couldn't help but share: 'Three years ago today I started my B&Q journey, 12 hours on the checkouts, increased to 16 a couple of months later. I then moved onto the shop floor on decor and completed the apprenticeship as decor supervisor last year. I started this year as Team Leader and I absolutely love going into work every day. The best decision and the best 3 year journey so far.' Thanks for sharing Lorraine, we're lucky to have you! 🌟
This National Apprenticeship Week, we’re taking our hats off to our B&Q apprentices! More than 120 of our apprenticeship colleagues aged from 20 to 60+ have recently graduated from their Retail Team Leader Level Three apprenticeship! This is the first wave of B&Q apprentices to graduate, with more than 600 others scheduled to complete apprenticeships by the end of this year. “Our colleagues are the beating heart of B&Q, and we‘re committed to their growth and development as part of our commitment to make B&Q a great place to work. That’s why we’ve expanded the range of apprenticeships we offer, and by May 2020, we’re aiming to have 1,100 colleague apprentices in the business. Introducing the new breakout space in our Store Support Office in Southampton! Built with collaboration and productivity in mind, our new upcycled space gives our colleagues the chance to work together in our meeting houses, or use the solo pods to have some quiet concentration time. So far, it's a hit!
