Last weekend our colleagues Darren and Molly took part in the 5k Sashay, a 5k sponsored walk with a twist, it had to be done in heels! Between them, they raised over £450 for LGBTQ+ charities, with £260 of it going to Stonewall, who we're happy to work alongside. Well done both of you, we're proud to have you in our orange family! 🧡🌈 Find out more about inclusion and wellness at B&Q here: http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vM70W

Remember our amazing, fundraising colleague Alan? We just received the fantastic news that he's been named in the Queen's New Years Honours list to receive an OBE! Well done Alan, you're a star. 🌟
Over Christmas, we were busy renovating our home in Southampton! In our store support office, colleagues now have space to enjoy a well-earned cuppa in our brand new kitchen area. We’ve used our own wallpaper and picture frames to create wall art and we have a wellness shelf too, where colleagues can donate and borrow books about everything from healthy snacks to mindfulness. So far, people are loving it!

Let’s start 2020 with a lovely story from our colleague, Emma: ‘When I first started working at B&Q, I’d recently lost my dad and didn’t really have a place to call home. I was feeling pretty down. After working night shifts for a while, I built up the confidence to move to day shifts. This was the scariest but the best thing I’ve ever done. With my manager Phil’s support, I’ve just graduated from an in-house training course, and I’m now signed off as a team leader. Next month, I start my line manager course! A huge thank you to Phil, for coaching me and believing in my capabilities. This is just the beginning for me. At B&Q we’re a family, and stories like mine are proof of that.’
Great news! We've won a Rainbow Honours Award - runner up in the 'New LGBTQ Network Group' category! Congratulations to everybody who worked to make it happen. 🌈
Blaen-Y-Maes Drop-in Centre in Swansea is a community space run entirely by volunteers. The centre provides free internet access, banking and housing advice, and food hampers for those in need. Our B&Q colleagues heard that their community needed the centre to be a brighter and happier space, so they stepped in to help. Thanks to our B&Q team for their hard work and a huge thank you to the lovely Blaen-Y-Maes volunteers who keep the centre running every day.
