Our co-founder Helena Jefferey recognised in Care Talk’s Social Care Top 30 Leaders We are delighted that our co-founder Helena Jeffery has been recognised for her excellence and leadership, as a finalist in the Social Care Top 30 which recognises influential leaders in social care. Run by Care Talk Magazine these annual awards provide an opportunity to showcase and recognise real leadership in the sector; inspiring CEOs and key influencers and decision makers who have made a significant difference to the sector. Whilst nearly 30 years have gone by since she founded the company with her son Paul, her principles remain the same; that whilst every home must be sustainable and successful, every resident should feel completely free to live their life to the full. A registered nurse with a passion for delivering personalised care to elderly people, Helena worked as a nursing homes Manager ahead of starting the business. Amidst the current challenges faced by the sector, compounded by political and economic uncertainties, Helena and Paul have worked hard to ensure that as a company we never lose sight of our values. Everything we do is directed by the needs of the individuals we care for and their families; by caring for the whole person and their unique personality, likes and interests, we create better bonds, more stimulating communities, safer environments and better lives. Festive Activities at Cotman House Care Home Residents at Cotman House Care Home in Felixstowe, Suffolk have been busy spreading festive cheer this month, both within the home and the wider community. To kick off December 2023, our residents have worked hard to decorate shoe boxes and fill them with gifts such as toiletries and toys. These festive boxes were hand delivered to the BASIC Life Charity shop in Felixstowe with the help of The Lions Club. BASIC Life Charity have been serving the people of Felixstowe for over 22 years, supporting the more vulnerable in the community through Pop-Up Shops and fund-raising initiatives supporting local schools, surgeries and other groups. Gift boxes will now be delivered to needy families around Felixstowe to give a much needed boost during the festive season. Home Manager, Kirsty said, “It is a real joy to get involved with Basic Life Charity this Christmas and to know that in some small way, we have been able to give gifts to members of our community that really need it”. Residents then hosted their own Christmas Fair, which was a big success and raised £120 for future events and trips for our residents. With a lovely community feel, people in the local area were invited to join in the festive fun, with residents and team members running several stalls selling festive gifts, delightful mince pies, and warm mulled wine. Parris Lawn Celebrates Accreditation in Dementia Care It’s been a period of well-deserved recognition for our team at Parris Lawn. The care home in Lewes, East Sussex, was recently joined by special guests, residents, and families to mark a significant achievement in the Home’s history. Alongside Home Manager Jackie Cox was Imogen Makepeace, the Deputy Mayor for Lewes, who joined in the heartwarming celebrations of Parris Lawn’s accreditation for excellence in dementia care.
