This week is Net Zero Week, raising awareness of why we all need to take on the challenge of tackling emissions to stop global warming. We’re pleased to share that we’re wasting no time on doing just that. Our Supplier Compliance Manager, Martin, is part of the team driving forward the success of our Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered vehicles. “To be involved in the project to move our fleet away from diesel to greener fuels, including CNG biomethane (biogas), is really exciting and allows me to play a significant role in helping move towards the company target of net zero emissions.” Congratulations to all of our colleagues who are involved in this initiative, you’re helping us get one step closer to a de-carbonised fleet! Throughout the month of June, WeWork sites have been holding all kinds of fun events and activities, and our corporate colleagues were all invited. They got stuck into everything from candle-making to face-painting, as well as a spot of networking. And of course, there was also the opportunity to celebrate Pride Month. 🌈 Thanks to our hybrid working options, colleagues are able to access WeWork sites all over the country. #WeWork #PrideMonth23 #Pride #HybridWorking
Currys apprenticeships are a great way to launch a career – so Leigh and Dave went to West Nottinghamshire College to shout about them! It was a chance to tell students all about technical courses based at the Newark Repairs Centre, such as the Computing & Vision Apprenticeship. There was plenty of interest, and Leigh and Dave did a brilliant job of explaining the ins and outs. We can’t wait to welcome some new apprentice recruits! Yesterday, colleagues across the business sported green for Mental Health Awareness Week. The aim was to raise funds and awareness for mental health, in partnership with the Mental Health Foundation. The green ribbon is the international symbol of mental health awareness (hence the choice of colour!). At Currys, we’re committed to supporting colleagues’ mental wellbeing, so everyone can thrive. Here, we look after each other – it’s what being part of our team is all about. To find out more, see our website.

Who says training can’t be fun?! At this recent session, colleagues got their hands on sweets and goodie bags, as well as the latest Intel tech. Now they’re all set to share their knowledge of 13th generation core processors and Arc graphics with customers in store. The sweets, however – that’s another matter… 🍬
For Hannah, hybrid working is one of the best things about being at Currys. Our Talent and Performance Management Partner can work from home, in the heart of London or even our hi-tech training academy! “Some days I’m at home in my trackies; other days I love to dress up and head into our London campus at WeWork Waterloo. Yesterday I worked from The Academy at Fort Dunlop in our Bose room, and today I’m heading to London to deliver a workshop.” We 💜 hybrid working.

Tech might be evolving at an exciting pace, but our colleagues are never a miss. Thanks to regular sessions with major brands, our teams have an incredible level of product knowledge to share with customers. In Belfast, colleagues recently got the lowdown on the latest models with the help of brand reps. Learning opportunities like these are part of life at Currys – and this one was a great success! Just hear what our colleagues had to say: “Really interesting; loads of info I didn’t know before that I was actually able to use that day.” “It was good knowledge-wise, especially on the TVs with the Sony rep.” “The Google module was definitely worthwhile.” Find out more about our hands-on learning on our learning life page: https://bit.ly/3Y8oSqj
