Nikki has been featured as this week’s ‘Community Hero’, and the feature is dedicated to celebrating her commitment to working in social care. It covers the strong relationship she built with a woman she supported, Nicky Clark, as well as how she’s been managing through the pandemic and how she would encourage others to try support work.
It?s safe to say that recent months have brought many challenges but also some rewards. Imagine the challenge of starting a new career just before lockdown began. Soraya a Cardiff based support worker shares her experience of doing just that.
At Dimensions, our volunteers make a difference to people we support and their teams by bringing something extra – whether that’s sharing a specialist skill or befriending a person we support and enjoying activities together. During the coronavirus pandemic, some volunteers have been able to adapt what they do as ‘virtual volunteers’ so that people we support don’t miss out. Tracey Dowling is one volunteer who has shared her story of volunteering with Dimensions.
