We are very proud to have won an MJ Award for Delivering Better Outcomes for our New Beginnings programme. New Beginnings is a trauma-informed, preventative service designed to break the cycle of repeat care proceedings. By providing intensive, relationship-based support to mothers at risk, the programme focuses on early intervention, dignity, and long-term stability. The impact has been significant: • 4 in 5 pregnant women retained care of their babies • Children have been safely reunited with their families • 95.5% of participants avoided eviction • Increased progression into employment and education • Estimated savings of up to £3.6 million compared to care placements Beyond these outcomes, the programme is driving genuine change, building trust with families and enabling more positive engagement with services. This award recognises the dedication of our teams and partners who are delivering innovative, compassionate, and cost-effective support to residents. Also, congratulations to our Enfield finalists in the categories of Delivering Resilient and Sustainable Growth for the Enfield Chase Restoration Project; Innovation in Building Diversity and Inclusion for introducing digital solutions for autistic children with complex needs; and Innovation in Public Private Partnerships for Citisense and borough-wide monitoring.

Pilot work experience programme inspires future careers. We’re delighted to share the success of our pilot Work Experience Programme for Year 10 students. The programme replaced traditional placements with a structured five-day group experience, giving students insight into how the Council operates. Through interactive sessions, challenges, and site visits across multiple departments, students developed key skills and gained a deeper understanding of local government. Feedback from both students and staff was highly positive, highlighting the programme’s engaging format, the breadth of career opportunities showcased, and the strong collaboration involved. The initiative successfully inspired interest in council careers and demonstrated the value of a creative, team-based approach to developing future talent.
