Volunteers from Leonardo in Bristol have found that the students they have mentored at local Special Educational Needs schools have imparted as much knowledge as they have received.
On the 20th June, a new chapter in global defence collaboration began with the official launch of Edgewing, a joint venture bringing together international aerospace leaders BAE Systems (UK), Leonardo (Italy) and Japan Aircraft Industrial Enhancement Co. Ltd. (Japan). Edgewing will be accountable for the design and development of the next generation combat aircraft and will remain the design authority for the life of the product, which is expected to go out beyond 2070.
Under a new three-year contract, defence company Leonardo has been chosen by the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) to manage ‘red team and cyber adversary simulation’ operations across UK Armed Forces bases and networks. As hostile states step up attempts to sow disruption and chaos, the new service will ensure that UK Armed Forces are as well defended and resilient as possible.
13 June 2025 - Chief Secretary to the Treasury, The Rt Hon Darren Jones MP, confirmed during a visit to Leonardo in Edinburgh that the UK Government has released £204.6m of funding towards the production and integration of the innovative new radar for the Royal Air Force’s Eurofighter Typhoon combat aircraft. The state-of-the-art radar, known as the ECRS Mk2, will transform the Typhoon’s control of the air, bringing a world-leading electronic warfare capability which will allow the aircraft to simultaneously detect, identify and track multiple targets in the air and on the ground.
In June, hundreds of professionals gathered for AeroWomen 2025 in Yeovil to celebrate the diverse ways that women are taking action in aerospace. Now in its fifth year, AeroWomen offers an inclusive and welcoming environment for a professional network of women from all sectors of the Aerospace industry.
