🚗⚡ Small Cars, Big Impact We’re always looking for creative ways to celebrate the incredible work our colleagues do every day and this time, we’ve gone miniature. In a first-of-its-kind collaboration, we’ve teamed up with Scalextric to launch the Micro Scalextric Roadside Recovery Set, featuring our iconic orange RAC van racing to the rescue. It’s a playful nod to the real-life heroes behind the wheel—like Sean, our Mobile Mechanic of the Year, and Chris, our Patrol of the Year—who bring our mission to life on roads across the UK. This isn’t just a toy, it’s a tribute. A celebration of the skill, dedication, and pride our colleagues bring to their roles every day. 💬 Want to be part of a team that’s driven by purpose and powered by recognition? Supporting Future Talent 🎓 Last week, our Apprenticeship Team Manager, Glen Johnson, joined forces with our Head of Recruitment, Lauren Towers, to speak with Year 10 students at St John Bosco in Liverpool. Their mission? To open minds to the possibilities of apprenticeships and life at RAC. At RAC, we believe in giving young people real options. Glen’s outreach work in schools is a vital part of our commitment to future talent - helping students understand that university isn’t the only path to success. Many of our colleagues, including Glen, found their way through hands-on, practical learning. These school sessions are designed to inspire and inform, showing students how apprenticeships can lead to fulfilling careers in automotive and beyond. We’re proud of the work Glen and the team are doing to make a difference🧡
⭐RAC at Motability Live: Showcasing Trust, Service, and Real-World Support⭐ RAC Motability colleagues Terri-Marie Paul and Carl Bishop recently represented the business at the Motability Live event at the Eikon Exhibition Centre in Northern Ireland, alongside scheme partners Kwik Fit. These events offer a powerful opportunity to connect directly with current and prospective scheme members, providing real-time support and reassurance through meaningful, face-to-face conversations. Terri-Marie Paul, Motability Customer Service Specialist, shared: “Meeting customers face-to-face at Motability Live helps us foster trust and understanding in a way that goes beyond digital or telephone communication. Seeing our roadside assistance in action during a breakdown gives customers real peace of mind and reinforces our commitment to worry-free motoring.” A special thank you to our patrol colleagues Brian McAuley and Andrew Beattie—Brian supported the event setup, while Andrew attended a live breakdown on-site, giving attendees a real-time look at RAC in action 🧡
Last weekend a group of our colleagues raised over £7000 for St Peter's Hospice, Bristol in our Office to Office Charity Bike Challenge 🏆 🎉 Over two incredible days, the team cycled 200 miles from our Manchester office, stopping at our Birmingham HQ before crossing the finish line at our iconic Bristol office 🚴 A fantastic achievement by everyone involved! 👏
Beyond the Breakdown: RAC at Haynes Motor Museum Classic Car Show 2025 🚗🛠️ RAC’s very own Sean Kimberlin and Jack Halstead teamed up at this year’s Classic Car Show to represent the RAC Mobile Mechanics division. Their mission? To answer questions, share knowledge, and hear from the public about their motoring experiences. The stand featured free pens, keyrings, and sweets for passersby, alongside a Honda Civic staged with cones and tarpaulin to simulate a real-life roadside setup. While the weather (thunder, lightning, and rain🌧), the team kept their smiles and made the most of the day by engaging with car enthusiasts and sharing insights into the work RAC does every day. As Jack put it: “Our aim wasn’t to sell anything - just to be there for the public, answer their questions, and welcome their views. It was great to hear about the cars they love and help them understand what we do.” Just one example of how RAC go beyond the usual day-to-day callouts - bringing expertise, passion, and community spirit wherever they go. 💬🔧
Up Close and Personal – our Orange Academy in Action There’s no better way to kick off the week than spending Monday morning with the next generation of Orange Heroes at North London Garages in Enfield. It was the team’s first visit to the site, and they were truly blown away by the energy, talent, and passion of the apprentices already showing their Orange spirit. This inspiring experience was made possible through RAC’s ongoing partnership with North London Garages, led by the incredible Colin Denton and his team - true champions of the Orange Academy, which continues to be a powerful platform for nurturing skills, building careers, and shaping the future of automotive excellence. Following on from our last post, we’ve been continuing our support for The MAZI Project - a Bristol-based charity doing incredible work to empower marginalised 16–25 year-olds through the power of food 🧡 Their mission to deliver fresh, nutritious meal kits and create inclusive food experiences is helping young people feel connected, confident, and cared for. Follow Brad, one of our Mobile Mechanics as he gives a full service to their van🚐🔧 We’re proud to stand behind a charity that’s changing lives. It’s just one of the ways our team is helping communities thrive.
The Mazi Project supports marginalised young people, bringing them nourishing food, confidence and community 🍊🥕🥦 When we found out their van needed a little TLC, we didn’t want them to waste any time having to take it to a garage, so we sent one of our mobile mechanics to service it 🔧 We’re proud to support a charity making a real difference, one meal kit at a time 🚚🧡 Click on the link below to find out more about how our Mobile Mechanics supported this amazing project.
We’re proud to announce that Leicester’s Sean Kimberlin has been named RAC Mobile Mechanic of the Year🔧⭐ Sean’s story is one of resilience, innovation, and leadership. A qualified engineer and cancer survivor, Sean has been instrumental in shaping the RAC’s Mobile Mechanics division—introducing advanced tools and processes typically found in high-end workshops, and mentoring a team of 28 technicians across the eastern region. With over two decades at the RAC, Sean’s journey has taken him from roadside patrol to lead mobile servicing and repair technician. His ability to tackle complex technical challenges, combined with his passion for supporting colleagues and delivering outstanding service, truly sets him apart. This award recognises not just his technical excellence, but the dedication and heart he brings to everything he does. Congratulations, Sean, your impact is felt across the business and beyond 🧡
Portsmouth's Chris Alexandrou named RAC Patrol of the Year🙌 After rescuing drivers at the roadside for six years, Chris Alexandrou has been named the RAC’s Patrol of the Year at the motoring company’s prestigious national awards ceremony at Silverstone – the home of British motor racing. The 32-year-old, who covers the Portsmouth area, was selected from more than 1,600 patrols for his technical knowledge and customer service, helping RAC members get back on the road as quickly and smoothly as possible. The main prize for the RAC’s Patrol of the Year is driving a brand-new RAC VW Ford Transit van in the iconic orange branding, with the highly sought-after number plate ‘P1 RAC’. Chris said: “Every day is different as a patrol but when my name was called at the awards, I had to pinch myself. I’ve never won anything before and it’s taken a while to sink in because I just wasn’t expecting it! “Variety is one of my favourite parts of the job, from the constant change of scenery in Hampshire to dealing with a wide range of roadside challenges. Before answering a call you have no idea where you could end up and I love using my initiative in the moment to help our customers get back on the road. “For anyone thinking about applying to become an RAC patrol, my advice is to go for it because you’ll gain so many new experiences." Well done, Chris 🧡
