As we near the end of September, let's reflect on the charitable initiatives that Team Weightmans has participated in this month. The Weightmans Wave Riders joined a dragon boat race to support the Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, achieving an impressive 2nd place – a remarkable accomplishment for a worthy cause! Additionally, our very own Becky Hughes took part in a charity abseil for Santerpaws Bulgarian Dog Rescue. Her dog, Marley, who was adopted from Santerpaws, cheered her on and awaited her at the bottom. We also organised a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan. It has been a busy month at Weightmans, and we eagerly anticipate what Team Weightmans will undertake in October. We are also excited to support the IICF Week of Giving event from October 12 to 19, joining hundreds of insurance professionals across the UK and the US to give back to our local communities. Our MacMillan coffee morning was a hit in all our offices, indulging in delicious treats while raising funds for a fantastic cause. Who said you can't have cake for breakfast, lunch, dinner? At Weightmans, we are committed to giving back. With various CSR activities happening across all our locations, we continue to support numerous charities and causes.

We are an environmentally conscious organisation and as such, we acknowledge the potential environmental impact that our operations have on the environment. We are certified to both ISO 50001 (energy) and ISO 14001 (environment) internationally recognised management systems. We are also a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact 10 principles and have been awarded a platinum (top 1%) sustainability rating by EcoVadis. We support the UN Global CompactEcoVadis Platinum Sustainability Rating Environmental/energy policies and objectives are in place to ensure we improve our environmental performance: We encourage the use of video conferencing to avoid business mileage We provide drinking water to avoid plastic bottles We segregate waste to aid recycling We try and ensure that offices are not over heated/cooled and equipment is switched off when not in use. Key achievements include: Paper reductions of >57% since starting paperlite. Printing reductions of >44% since starting paperlite. Business road miles reduction of > 23% (2019/20).

On this International Day of Charity, we're reflecting on the remarkable charitable activities hashtag#TeamWeightmans continue to get involved with and the impact we've made in our communities. Each one of our offices champions a local charity, pouring their energy and passion into supporting their mission every year. We're proud to work with Action Tutoring, where we lend our skills to tutoring children from less privileged backgrounds. We work in tandem with GROW Mentoring, aiding diverse and socially mobile university students as they navigate their way into the legal profession. Our collaboration with The Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) is another key partnership. This unique non-profit synergizes the insurance industry to improve the lives of vulnerable and disadvantaged people through grants, volunteering, and leadership. Simon Colvin, partner who leads the firm's ESG programme, said: “This is an incredible achievement for Weightmans and is significant recognition of the work we are doing in our ambition to be one of the UK’s most socially and environmentally conscious law firms. This ranking certainly sets us ahead of many of our competitors."
