Pros

Since arriving at Wilderness Way, I have been supported every step, from my first where I was introduced to a colleague who I had been partnered up on a buddy system to now I support colleagues where I can. The organisation adopts a no blame culture and a nurturing culture for the employees. The pay is great, the benefits are great and we also get to take part in outdoor activities like canoeing, rock climbing and mountain biking to name only a few. The camaraderie is between staff is special and everyone is there to support and guide you and laugh along the way. The opportunity to progress through the organisation is also something that is welcomed,l just as much as a fresh face going the the company.

Cons

Having a drivers license is advantageous, but not everyone can drive.

We completely agree, the support teams show each other really is so special. We’re proud to offer activities through our Employee Adventure Club, giving everyone a chance to unwind and connect outside of work. The roles our people do are some of the most rewarding, but also the most challenging, so it’s important we let our hair down too! We appreciate your point about driving. We recognise it can be a barrier for some roles, especially with our homes being in rural locations that aren’t always easy to reach by public transport. We’re continuing to explore ways to improve accessibility, while keeping the beautiful settings that make our homes so unique. Thankyou for all the support you bring to the children and their teams.

Thanks so much for taking the time to share your experience so far. It’s really lovely to hear how much you enjoy working with the child, the support you get from your manager, and the teamwork with our wrap‑around support teams. It’s great to know the work–life balance works well for your home life too. The long shifts can definitely be tough, which is why we make sure there’s proper downtime built in as well. Thank you again for your dedication to the role, you really are making such a difference to every child we support.
