Pros

You get free gym membership but whenever you use the gym you get hounded by members because something will have been broken for months but head office won't authorise its repair so there's nothing you can do. You get discount in an over priced retail store that, when applied, still makes items more expensive than sports direct.

Cons

Long, long hours, ridiculous expectations from senior management, no help or support from area managers. They couldn't care less about the members of the clubs, they are only interested in getting more people through the door but don't realise that you won't get more people in without advertising. Their own arrogance makes them believe that people will automatically join based on the equipment provided, not realising that it is also about the atmosphere in the club. When talking about getting new sales I would often be told that people don't need to try the club before they sign up "why do they need a trial? What do they need to know, that the pool's wet and you run on a treadmill! Just get them signed up!" They manage their employees with fear, and nothing will ever be the companies fault. They use their employees as scape goats and their solution is to sack the current workforce and employ more victims. Working for this company will drain the life from you, cause you stress and affect your health. This is not an exaggeration, trust me I've been through it for nearly 2 years. They don't care about the people who work for them, they don't care about the people who join their fitness clubs. Watch out fitness first, they'll do exactly the same to you.

Pros

it was a job! minimum wage at that! or slightly higher pay for managers!

Cons

NO work life balance, there way of the high way. All staff who work at a particular club hate it just stay for the little pay you do get. work load is crazy as they open a club with a large about of staff and gradually pick people off so they have a small team to do same work load.If you do get paid they have a habit of or short paying staff or promising bonuses which they never get. head office treat staff like dirt on bottom of your shoe. Swore at by managers, asked if was fibbing about medical conditions. rotas for the week given day before. managers from other clubs try there best to get other managers out so they get the job. Have to swipe in and out with finger print and if your a second YES A SECOND late your are docked 30 minutes pay. People who forget to swipe in/out then god help you wont get paid for full shift as many have not beforehand. many staff if accused and made to feel uneasy. cut backs in company put staff in uncomfortable positions having to explain/lie to people about why toilet rolls( yes this has happened) cant be replaced because the order hasn't come yeah right! more like the company wont let managers go over the cleaning/supplies budget .Plus they make on you will move up in the company however they do this so they can get away with treating you badly and getting free work out of you.
