As May comes to an end, so does Mental Health Awareness Month. We want to highlight the rewarding careers available in mental healthcare and social care. At Cygnet, you can join us as a mental health nurse or as a support worker/healthcare assistant. These roles involve various duties, such as engaging with patients and service users, participating in therapy sessions, and maintaining records. While nurses need specific qualifications, support workers need care experience, a DBS check, and ideally an NVQ level 2 or 3 in health and social care. There are ample opportunities for career development and specialisation in areas such as psychology, eating disorders, or substance misuse. Working in mental health requires resilience, empathy, and effective communication skills. It can be demanding but also highly rewarding. If you're passionate about making a difference, consider a career in mental health with us here at Cygnet.
