February was LGBT History Month. A time to raise awareness, celebrate progress, and reflect upon the discrimination that still occurs today in the UK, and across the World. As the month comes to an end, Cygnet reflected on why Pride Month is so important here. Many of our teams took opportunities to think, educate, and foster understanding, while combating prejudice. This year's theme #UnderTheScope, celebrated the contributions of LGBTQ+ members in healthcare; so the month provided opportunities for new and renewed learnings on how we can all do more to celebrate and promote diversity. As the month draws to a close, we also reflect and give thanks for our LGBTQ+ employee network here at Cygnet - and the impact it has on building connections and sharing experiences. We still have a long way to go in improving the well-being of the LGBTQ+ community, but, developing safe spaces, sharing stories, and forming connections is a great place to start. Going forward, Cygnet will continue to champion authenticity and provide spaces for learning and allyship in the workplace, and beyond. Allyship isn't just for one month a year, it's about celebrating acceptance and authenticity every day. You can find out more about the amazing work of our LGBT+ staff and how we and they, support marginalised groups via our website below. #Equality #Inclusion #HealthcareHeroes #UnderTheScope #LGBTHistoryMonth #EqualityInMedicine #DiversityMatters #LGBTplusHM
As Race Equality Week for 2024 draws to a close, we’re reminding everyone here at Cygnet about the fight for racial equality in the workplace - from the top of our organisation to the bottom. Here at Cygnet, we’re incredibly proud of our globally diverse team, all working together to help improve the lives of the people in our care every single day. We celebrate diversity because different people, with different perspectives, make Cygnet a better health and social care provider. Our service users, our residents, and our young people are incredibly diverse, so we should be too. That’s why we’re working hard to build an inclusive culture where people can be themselves. Whoever they are, wherever they’re from. Race Equality Week focuses on addressing the barriers to race equality in the workplace because we need to make it everyone’s business. The sooner we act, the sooner change can become a reality. If we all commit to #ListenActChange, then real change can, and will, take place.

It was Poetry at Work Day earlier this week – so a chance to let creative juices flow and see the beauty in what we do. Whether you spend your days tending to patients or closing deals, there’s inspiration all around us here at Cygnet. Many of us struggle to find the time to exercise our brains creatively, yet Poetry can be embraced by all work spaces and enjoyed by all ages.
