Cygnet Hospital Bierley’s new 15-bed acute mental health service for women is now open - Blossom Ward provides a safe and stabilising environment for individuals who are experiencing an acute episode of mental illness and require an emergency admission. With a focus on stabilisation, the Blossom Ward team will support service users to manage their mental health, reinforce daily living skills and prepare for independent life back in the community. Blossom Ward is the first of 2 new acute mental health services to open at Cygnet Hospital Bierley. The Bradford-based hospital will also be opening a new acute mental health service for men, Lister Ward, in May 2023. Kate Gorse-Brightmore, Hospital Manager, said: “At Cygnet we are committed to offering specialist services that meet individual needs. Blossom Ward will provide much-needed care for the rising number of women in need of emergency mental health support and we remain committed to working in partnership with the NHS and other local agencies to help meet that need through the provision of person-centred care.”
Well done to the team at Cygnet Appletree who have seen the hospital rated as ‘Good’ in all 5 key areas of enquiry following the most recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Located in Meadowfield, near Durham, Cygnet Appletree is a mental health hospital for women that includes Pippin Ward, a specialist PICU service and Bramley Ward, an acute service for women. The service was rated ‘Good’ across all 5 domains – safe, effective, caring, responsive and, well-led. Hospital Director, Martin Graham said, everybody at the service was happy with the result of the inspection. He added: “I am so pleased with this outcome for the team at Cygnet Appletree. It is confirmation of the great care they provide to service users who come to Appletree at a very difficult time in their lives. Located in Mold, Flintshire, Delfryn House and Lodge provide a high dependency inpatient rehabilitation service for those who have severe and enduring mental illness.
Well done to the team at Ranaich House who have been praised for ‘major strengths in supporting positive outcomes for people’ following their latest inspection from the Care Inspectorate. Located in Dunblane, Scotland - Ranaich House is a specialist residential service offering care and support in a structured and therapeutic environment for up to 14 adults with learning disabilities and complex needs.
Cygnet Hospital Ealing has been rated ‘Good’ by the regulator the Care Quality Commission (CQC), with inspectors praising the kind and compassionate care provided by staff. Cygnet Hospital Ealing, offers personalised treatment for service users with an eating disorder or personality disorder. In the new CQC report, following an inspection in May, inspectors concluded that the service is effective, caring, responsive and well-led.
Cygnet Hospital Sherwood build gets underway Work has begun on Cygnet Hospital Sherwood, a new purpose built facility in Mansfield to support men and women who are struggling with their mental health. Cygnet Hospital Sherwood will bring more than 100 new jobs to the local area and see further investment by Cygnet in the local economy, drawing on local resources during the construction phase and for day-to-day supplies to run the service.
NOW OPEN - Faun Ward, Cygnet Joyce Parker Hospital's new Tier 4 PICU Service for girls aged 12-18 with severe mental illness; where the focus is on stabilisation, with a view to enabling transition to a general acute ward or, back into the care of community services. The Ward has full MDT input from; doctors, psychologists, social workers, OT’s, a consultant psychiatrist, speech & language therapists, CTL’s, BACP-registered therapists, nurses, HCA’s, and teachers and educational support staff.
South Hampton Ward, our new PICU service at Cygnet Hospital Bury is due to open in April 2020.
