DHL Supply Chain is delighted to partner with Waitrose & Partners to operate their first South West regional distribution centre in Avonmouth Bristol. Alongside warehousing, DHL will oversee transport operations—ensuring efficient deliveries to around 50 existing Waitrose shops while providing the flexibility to support future expansion. This partnership marks a major milestone in Waitrose’s £1bn transformation plan—modernising its supply chain and stores to deliver on its vision of becoming the go-to destination for those who value great food. The 360,000 sq ft, BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ facility, opening in 2027, will create over 550 jobs and reduce supply chain mileage by 2,225 tonnes of CO₂ annually, strengthening regional supply chains while driving sustainability and growth.
DHL Supply Chain has been appointed by Siemens Mobility, a leader in intelligent rail transport solutions, in a new multi-year transport contract. Through the contract, DHL will deliver vital rail components to depots across the UK, supporting the repair, maintenance, and refurbishment of trains. Key highlights include: ✅ Sustainable transport – 70% of the dedicated fleet runs on Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), reducing carbon emissions by ~80%, with full transition by year-end. ✅ Operational visibility – Siemens gains real-time tracking and inventory insights via DHL’s MySupplyChain platform and Connected Control Tower. ✅ Rapid response – Same-day deliveries for urgent repairs to minimize disruption and improve reliability. As Sambit Banerjee, Joint CEO of Siemens Mobility UK&I said: “We’re delighted to partner with DHL to further enhance the delivery of materials from our Siemens Mobility distribution centres to our train fleets, helping keep passengers moving. This collaboration supports our mission to transform rail travel and forms an important part of our efforts to reduce the carbon footprint of our logistics operations.” Together, we’re building a more resilient, sustainable future for rail.
