We’re excited to be partnering with the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) as the first-ever Champion of Women’s and Girls’ Cricket. This is a partnership with purpose, built on our commitment to community and diversity. A new Women’s and Girls’ Fund – made up of equal contributions from the ECB and Metro Bank – is at the heart of the partnership. The Fund will accelerate cricket’s progress towards becoming a more inclusive sport, through community team programmes to attract and retain women and girls. We look forward to sharing more on this landmark partnership in the weeks ahead.

We’re known for being a dog-friendly bank, so it’s only right that we sponsor a kennel at Birmingham Dogs Home. Over the next year, colleagues from local stores will volunteer at the charity. They’ll be helping to rescue and rehome abandoned dogs Iris and Max, a ten-year-old Springer Spaniel who have recently found his forever home.

As a people-people bank, we put our community first. Our Northampton store has recently hosted ‘16 Days of Activism’, an annual international campaign, running from the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women until Human Rights Day. We welcomed organisers West Northamptonshire Community Safety Partnership, along with the Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Coordinator for West Northamptonshire Council, Maddy Allen in store to raise awareness and to call for an elimination of all forms of gender-based violence.
We're excited to be named as a finalist for 5 different categories with The Mortgage Awards by MoneyAge, including Best Overall Mortgage Lender of the Year, and the Best Diversity Initiative of the Year. Improving our Mortgage lending has been a big focus for us over the past year and we're thrilled that our hard work have been recognised.
We put the wellbeing of our customers and colleagues at the heart of everything we do, which is why we’re excited to introduce a ‘compressed shift pattern’. Last year we ran a pilot with a few of our stores including our Cardiff store (pictured below) to trial the benefits of changing how our people work. Colleagues can now choose to work longer shifts over four days, and have three days off, every week. They asked for a better work-life balance and more flexibility, so we’ve listened and made this a priority.
