Last week was #NationalInclusionWeek and we were fully behind this year’s theme of ‘the power is now.’ In the run up to the week, we held an Inclusion focused ‘Meaningful Moment’ (a monthly event where everyone comes together at our office to connect around a different theme). Run by our Inclusion network, people got stuck into a range of activities including sharing their Inclusion pledges, exploring unconscious bias and getting creative with an ‘inclusion flowers’ exercise. The day culminated in a ‘taste of the world’ feast with dishes brought in by our employees that reflected their cultural heritage, including food from Afghanistan, India, Ireland, Portugal, Poland and beyond! We also reflected on progress we’ve made against our Inclusion action plan over the past year, as well as looking ahead at what more we have to achieve.
We’re hiring! As our long-standing Chief Executive David Done OBE will be leaving us in March 2023, we have started the search for our next inspirational leader. RHP is a unique organisation, with a special culture that puts people (customers and employees) at the heart of everything we do. We’re therefore looking for an outstanding individual to take on this role. You can check out more about the position (including how to apply) here: www.odgers.com/86580
A big thank you to the fantastic volunteers who helped at The Vineyard's BBQ last week (our chosen charity). It was a huge success, and the team were so grateful for the support! These events literally couldn’t run without people giving up their time.
Check out the good sports who took part in our charity relay earlier this month, to mark The Vineyard's ten-year anniversary. The baton was successfully passed throughout the day as teams walked, ran, and cycled to ten of our local developments: one for every year of The Vineyard's work. The money they raised was matched by RHP, raising just over £1,000 for our chosen charity. Fun fact: we know a stellar service comes from cross-team collaboration, so brilliant baton passing extends to our work too: whether we're providing a colleague with the information they need upfront, continuing to show ownership even after we've passed a query on, or making a customer like they're in safe hands, we aim to pass and receive all batons seamlessly!
Mental health charity Mind has recognised our commitment to workplace wellbeing with a Gold Award 🎉 Gold is the highest accreditation, meaning we've successfully embedded mental health into policies and practices and demonstrated a long-term, in-depth commitment to employee mental health. RHP ranked 13th overall and came in the top ten organisations in the UK based on employee feedback alone. We were recognised for embedding a positive wellbeing culture through support and initiatives such as: investing in Mind Matters Champions (Mental Health First Aiders), making conversations about mental health the norm through weekly ‘Wellbeing Wednesday’ discussions, a monthly wellbeing allowance that people can personalise to their own needs, regular online meditation sessions and walk and talks, and integrating wellbeing and mental health education throughout our learning and development programme.
🌌 Presenting our new KOSMIHC values! 🌌 At our last all-company get-together, we launched our new organisational values, shaped by our people. All employees took part in workshops to discuss what personal values they live by, and what we should live by as one big team. Some clear themes stood out, which evolved into our new values: 1. We Know Our Stuff 2. We Make It Happen 3 We Care And who better to explain our new values than the very people who helped shape them? Read the full definitions here: https://lnkd.in/e_W88DEc. We hire based on behaviours as well as skills, and look for people who live these same values. #employeeengagement #valuesmatter
Our Chief Executive, David Done OBE, will be stepping down from his long-standing post at RHP Group in March next year. David established RHP in 2000, following a Large Scale Voluntary Transfer from the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, and has led it ever since. Since then, RHP’s performance, finances, and culture has been transformed, so that today it’s one of the highest regarded Registered Providers working in the UK, known for innovation, modernising the housing service using new technology, and being a great place to work. This work has been recognised externally over the years with RHP gaining number one spot in the UK Great Place to work list, obtaining Investors in People Platinum status twice and winning numerous other accolades from organisations such as the UK Business Awards, the European Contact Centre and Customer Service awards and David himself being named as ‘Most people-focussed CEO’ at the HR Excellence awards.
🏳️🌈 Happy Pride month 🏳️🌈 We all have a right to work somewhere where we feel welcome, safe, and valued. As well as organising events, activities and discussions throughout June to celebrate Pride month, we're committed to developing and sustaining an inclusive organisation all year round. We're sharing resources internally to help us all become better allies, attending regular inclusion training, and gathering interviewee feedback to make our recruitment process as inclusive as it can be. All employees have the option to share their pronouns if they wish. We embrace and understand the value that diversity brings – it can only make us better and stronger.
Infertility affects as many as one in six couples, all of working age, so as part of our aim to deliver an inclusive, supportive employee experience, we're proud to announce we've started our journey towards becoming a Fertility Friendly workplace with Fertility Matters at Work.
At RHP Group inclusion is firmly on our agenda like never quite before. It’s being talked about, considered and influencing decisions to make long term positive change. We know though that true inclusion is a continuous journey rather than a destination. To keep ourselves accountable and making sure we’re doing all we can in this area we’ve prepared our first ever Inclusion Report: https://lnkd.in/e2y9QmME. The report features what’s been achieved in the previous year and what we’re looking to achieve throughout 2022-23 and beyond. One thing we know for sure, inclusive thinking and actions will continue to be our guiding light.
