A new tree at RHP's head office, by royal appointment 👑 For the Platinum Jubilee, the Queen has established a tree planting initiative 'The Queen's Green Canopy' to help celebrate this very special occasion. With all of us at RHP sharing this aim for a greener future, we knew we had to get in on the action! Pictured is just one of the trees that we've planted as part of the initiative with many new trees being planted around our estates. This is just one way we're celebrating the Platinum Jubilee with lots of parties taking place within our Retirement Schemes giving our residents the chance to commemorate this special occasion with family and friends.
This week is National Infertility Awareness Week. Infertility affects as many as one in six couples, all of working age, so as part of our aim to deliver an inclusive, supportive employee experience, we're proud to announce we've started our journey towards becoming 'Fertility Friendly' and will be one of the first organisations in the UK to do so.
22 April 2022 is Earth Day. Now's the time to take action: not just because we care about the natural world, but because we all live in it. We need a healthy Earth to support our jobs, livelihoods, health , survival and happiness. A healthy planet is not an option: it's a necessity. That's why a big part of our vision is about building a sustainable future. Here are some of the ways we're already playing our part at RHP Group.
Last week we all celebrated Valentines Day together for our first Meaningful Moment , held at our Head Office in Teddington! There was lots to do including a Human Treasure Hunt designed for people to find others that they hadn't spoken with before, a craft area to create a Valentines card for another team to say thanks, and of course, a selfie station!
As it's National Apprenticeship Week, we wanted to shout about the awesome Linann who was a HR Apprentice at RHP for a year and a half. She's now successfully completed her Apprenticeship, and this month started a fantastic new role! Before Linann left she took part in a special Q&A with us all about her Apprenticeship experience at RHP. #NAW2022
Time to Talk day is a national event by Mind, the mental health charity, aimed at breaking down barriers around mental health and to get us all talking. We were so proud of our Mind Matters Champion's who organised a bumper day of activities including three Tea & Talk sessions and an interactive quiz all about mental health. On top of all of that, we were excited to introduce two new wellbeing initiatives aimed at continuing the conversation, monthly Walk & Talk sessions and weekly meditation! Oh, and anyone who joined in the conversation got one of these snazzy mugs to keep!
Today is Time to Talk Day and right now, there are conversations about mental health taking place in homes, schools, and offices right across the country. Talking about how we’re feeling can help put things into perspective and help us feel more positive about the future. Our Mind Matters Champions will be hosting Tea & Talk sessions today, both virtually and at various RHP locations so that everybody across the business has an opportunity to join. We are encouraging our people to take a break, connect with others who they might not have seen for a while and to just have a chat! Whatever you do today, remember Time to Talk Day isn’t the end – it’s just the beginning. Today is the time to start those conversations, and tomorrow is the time to keep them going!
Our #BlackHistoryMonth celebrations were jam-packed with lots of great activities, conversations and learning for us. Led by our Inclusion Network, but with input from all of our employees, we’ve had virtual conversations about different topics and themes, a special book club read and top tips shared in relation to being a great advocate. The month was capped off with a special talk given to us by I. Gineva Barbarin, a leading disability and inclusion voice. She shared with us her best practices in relation to how organisations can be as inclusive as possible as an employer. We love her motto: "Accessibility is the baseline"! Although it’s been fantastic to celebrate this month the ethos is something we will keep at the forefront all 12 months of the year.
At RHP we are always looking for ways to be as inclusive as we possibly can as an employer. As part of this, recently representatives from RHP attended the Key4Life's ‘Meet the Employers’ event. Key4Life does inspirational work helping the reduction of youth reoffending through the delivery of an innovative rehabilitation programme to those in prison and those at risk of going to prison. The programme largely focuses on helping the employability of these young men and helping them get back into the workplace. We were one of 18 organisations to attend the open day where we gave the candidates interview practices, top tips and then feedback at the end of the day. We’ll keep you updated with further progress as we hope to work with Key4Life on an ongoing basis.
With #CustomerServiceWeek taking place this week, we wanted to voice our support for the Institute of Customer Service's 'Service with Respect' campaign. The campaign highlights that all front line workers deserve to be treated with respect. This is a belief we very much share whilst, in turn, always making sure we're treating our customers with the upmost respect too. We'll pledge to do all we can to continue to support all of our employees to ensure they have the tools they need to carry out conversations that are respectful to both themselves and our customers #NCSW21
