Great news - we've partnered with OnHand, the app for doing good, to ensure all members of our team can make a positive impact easily, on-demand and competitively. The exciting partnership, which launched with a small trial in January, has already seen over 15,800 trees planted in the 'Roadchef forest'.
Heroes walk (and work!) amongst us- but of course, we already knew that! Last week we celebrated our Everyday Hero Awards at our annual Roadchef Conference held at Heathrow. Our hero of the year Sarah Phillips, captured our hearts with her selfless act of heroism. When called upon to assist a pregnant lady in labour, Sarah's calm demeanour and quick thinking helped deliver baby Bella Rose safely. Sarah received her award from Mark Fox , our CEO and Peter Cossar, Director of Operations to a standing ovation from all in the room.
On #InternationalWomensDay, we sat down with Financial Accounting Manager Clara Costa ( ACCA) to talk about her journey and all she's achieved during her 19 years at Roadchef. We're incredibly proud to champion inclusion and diversity across our workforce, to help colleagues thrive in their chosen field.
It's that time of the year when the anticipation and excitement builds for our annual Roadchef Conference. The Conference team, led by the incredible Jane Frost is working hard behind the scenes to make it another event to remember. We love these events as it's a great opportunity to bring all of our Roadchef Hero’s together to celebrate an amazing 2023, some amazing individual and team achievements and to share our exciting plans for the year ahead. Of course it wouldn’t be a Roadchef Conference without the Everyday Hero's party!
February half term kicked off last week so it's a busy couple of weeks for our amazing Site teams. To Delight our Customers there have been a number of outstanding developments in 3 of our WHSmiths. Internal progression is something we're extremely proud of - over 65% of our management vacancies are filled by an internal candidate! Mark joined the team in 2014 as a part-time Crew Member at our Sutton Scotney and has worked his way up to managing a McDonald's Drive-Thru at Rownhams - a role he started towards the end of 2023.
We're celebrating a huge fundraising milestone in our partnership with Cancer Research UK! Over our six year partnership, we've now raised over £5m to help fund life-saving research to beat cancer. A BIG THANK YOU to all of our amazing Teams and Customers for raising such a massive amount of money.
