Originating in Japan, SECOM operates in 3 continents, 18 countries, serves 3.6 million customers, employs over 70,000 people and provides safety and peace of mind globally. It's an incredible achievement to be included in this year's Forbes list and indicates SECOM's values and achievements as it continues to grow.
Since our new company benefits have been put into action, our long serving employees have received their certificates and new lanyards for 10, 15 and 20 years of service! One long serving employee Terri Saunders who has achieved over 25 years with SECOM was surprised to receive her certificate and gold lanyard from her manager Alex McCabe whilst they were celebrating their friend's birthday in Morocco. Terri works from home so we don't see her often but congratulations Terri! Here's to many more years.
Big news from our parent company SECOM Co., Ltd. investing $192m in Eagle Eye Networks and Brivo, one of the largest ever in cloud physical security. Eagle Eye Networks provide world-class cloud video surveillance solutions, and Brivo provides world-class cloud-based access control solutions. A significant part of the investment will be used to develop AI further, improving organisations' security globally, and SECOM’s capability to provide solutions to its global customers will be enhanced.
We are delighted to announce some new company benefits to enhance support for our SECOM employees, including increased holiday allowance for newbies and additional holiday allowance to reward long-serving staff reaching 10, 15 & 20 years of service. Plus, as voted for in our recent poll by our current employees, a new dental scheme is being introduced to go alongside our private medical healthcare scheme.
Congratulations to our Regional Installation Manager who successfully passed the FIA course in Fundamentals in Fire Detection & Alarm! It covers guidance and recommendations for designing, installing, commissioning and maintaining systems in non-domestic premises. At SECOM, we continuously invest in fire training and qualifications for all our install and service managers as well as our engineers to ensure we always provide the best quality service and follow best practices.
A huge congratulations to Terri Saunders, Command and Control Database Administrator, who has achieved 25 years service. She gave us a statement about her career journey and must feel very proud: “I started to work at SECOM in April 1998 as a Service Controller working evenings, 4pm till midnight. This was the perfect job for me to fit around my young family. At that time my role was mainly assisting the engineers with the passing and closing down of their out of hours callouts. I did this for 3 years and then my role changed to an Operator working shifts. This role enabled me to gain further knowledge within the alarm industry and work with a network of others such as the police, keyholders and engineers. In 2004 my position changed again to my current role. The experience gained in my previous roles within SECOM has helped me to undertake this position to the best of my ability. I was fortunate enough to visit Japan on a study tour in 2009, giving me the opportunity to meet other colleagues within the SECOM family. This was a fantastic opportunity that I will always remember."
SECOM is delighted to share some fantastic news from our Leeds office. Our Regional Service Manager Malcolm Tuckwood proudly announced that the son of Helen Donovan (Senior Service Administrator) Cian Coleman had become the latest Leeds United youngster to sign his first professional contract at the club. Cian was named in the Guardian's Next Generation 2021 list: see the link below! Everyone at SECOM, especially from our Leeds office, would like to add how proud we are of Cian and Helen for her commitment to supporting him.
Our amazing C&C team jumped into action after receiving an emergency alarm from a customer’s CareTech base station calling for help. They couldn’t get hold of their emergency contacts, so they called 999 for an ambulance. The customer's daughter informed C&C that the police and local builders forced entry, and the police tried to speed up the ambulance as it would have taken over 4 hours to arrive. Alex McCabe, C&C Assistant Manager, spoke with the customer’s daughter to ensure everything was OK. Unfortunately, the customer suffered a broken hip and had to undergo an operation but was thankfully in recovery. The customer said SECOM had been “great, absolutely brilliant” and was really pleased with the service. The customer also stated the CareTech pendant was a “godsend” and didn’t know what would have happened otherwise. Neil Fitzwalter, CareTech Manager, congratulated the excellent work by the C&C team involved. It’s wonderful to see our CareTech service in action, keeping our customers safe and helping them in times of need.
🏆 Our 'Operational Champion of the Year' goes to Ashley! He has been presented with this highly regarded SECOM award as he has been recognised and voted for by his National Accounts team colleagues for his continuous outstanding performance.
Last Friday we held our annual National Accounts Sales Awards to congratulate our National Accounts Executives for hitting their target. We want to thank our highly valued suppliers who came and presented to the team to showcase their products for this year to help boost the team's knowledge. The meeting received positive feedback and allowed everyone to collaborate and build stronger relationships. The day concluded at the Thai Orchid in Maidstone for an evening meal and the traditional fun finale of a game of Heads or Tails, a nail-biting contest which was narrowly won by one of our National Accounts Secretaries.
