Caught in the act! A disturbing discovery was made when one of our employees operating our SECOM Virtual Guard service witnessed live footage of a robbery about to unfold. A quick call was made, and the incident was immediately policed and dealt with by our iconic Control & Command team. There was even a guard on site unaware of the situation, who would have been outnumbered, and the outcome could have been very different. Well done to our fantastic team members!
Congratulations to our apprentices who successfully undertook development training with our friends at Hikvision, providing support and demonstration days, using their equipment and looking at fault finding and common installation issues. They delivered additional learning with their demo van to show live-action software tweaks and issues they may come across and resolve. They asked some excellent questions, and enjoyed the opportunity to quiz them as a supplier and develop a bank of knowledge they can use in the field.
We hope you had a great Christmas and New Year! At SECOM we are excited to see what is in store for us this year with new products and services coming soon to share with you. So stay tuned!
Here's what Christmas at SECOM looks like! On the 15th December 2022 we hosted a Christmas open house across all our offices to fundraise for Victim Support, a charity that is close to our hearts and ethos. To raise money we held a raffle where we sold tickets for £1 each – staff could buy as many as they wished. There were so many fantastic prizes up for grabs that were donated by SECOM and some of their suppliers. Prizes consisted of gift cards, vouchers for experiences, spas and stays, gadgets such as an air fryer, speakers, a tablet and Echo’s, festive hampers and an Oodie and electric hand warmer just in time for winter. As SECOM have many offices dotted around the UK we hosted a live virtual meeting where all offices could log in and take part and see each other. Each office also had their own tasty buffet lunches to enjoy. Our amazing employees raised a whopping £2400 which is the most money we have ever raised for our Christmas fundraisers! Such an great achievement. A successful and positive end to 2022 and looking forward to 2023.
We were invited to the annual Whitbread Premier Inn's and restaurant's charity event to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital and Children's Charity. We have supported this charity event for many years, where our contributions have helped with the progress of several projects at the hospital in London. Well done to everyone who contributed to this fantastic charity, and thanks to Alan, Paul, Wayne and James for attending.
We were proud sponsors of the Tandridge ‘Junior Citizen’ Child Safety Event. Approximately 600 10-11 year olds across the borough attended and took part in a series of interactive workshops run by various agencies to educate them on safety, and the dangers of drugs, railways, gas and electricity, as well as the benefits of good nutrition and much more. Our MD Minoru Takezawa attended the VIP day on 18th October, taking along fellow directors, managers and employees. They all met with the Vice Chairman of Tandridge District Council Cllr Chris Botten. The VIP day took place at Lingfield Park Racecourse and they sat in the workshops with the children from Felbridge Primary School in East Grinstead and Marden Lodge Primary School in Caterham. The children all received a certificate and a helpful information booklet to take away with them. Even the adults learnt a thing or two! A great thank you to Child Safety Media for organising and coordinating this fantastic event, along with the organisations running the workshops.
As part of SECOM’s environmental drive to a greener future, our Fleet Manager has started to take stock of the impressive Toyota UK's self-charging mild hybrid vehicles. We are committed to becoming greener.
