October is Black History Month and this year's theme is "Saluting our Sisters". The theme emphasises the vital role Black women have played in shaping history, inspiring change, and building communities. As part of our celebration of Black History Month, our local offices have decorated communal areas with BHM themed decorations. We're also hosting a quiz and a book club event to encourage conversation, as well as shining a spotlight throughout the month on black women who have left a lasting impact on us personally or on history. #BeXPS #BlackHistoryMonth #SalutingOurSisters
As a disability confident employer, we have committed to support all applicants throughout the recruitment process, ensuring each stage of the recruitment process is inclusive and offers reasonable adjustments where required. We advertise all our roles on Evenbreak, the specialist job board for disabled candidates. Evenbreak can provide help and advice to disabled candidates who may be interested in our vacancies. Evenbreak provides resources on inclusive recruitment and is running a training session for our line managers to help us ensure we create a more inclusive workplace culture.
As part of XPS Wellness Hour in August, we encouraged our colleagues to reflect on what wellbeing means to them and asked them to showcase their creativity in our Photography Competition. We had dozens of entries in the categories: what makes you happy, what represents you, and nature. It was great to see the talent and creativity at XPS! "I thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the photo competition. Looking back over recent adventures was really good for the soul, and it was pleasing to see so many snapshots into other people's lives", says Callum Lord, winner of the XPS Photography Competition. The winning photos featured were taken by Callum Lord, Anna Rice and Vicky Gardner.
Last month, we celebrated South Asian Heritage month. Our colleagues shared their stories on what it means to be South Asian, their favourite recipes as well as movies and reading lists. To end the month, our Multicultural Network organised a Samosa Day in each office.
XPS's Employee networks play an important role in our company culture, providing a safe space for employees to have real, honest conversations and creating supportive environments to bring people together. To support our XPS Network leaders, we're running training sessions to support their development and capability to lead effective employee networks. "I found the training incredibly motivating..." says Frances Bainbridge, a leader within the Disability and Neurodiversity Network, who joined our first session held last month. Leaders from the Disability and Neurodiversity Network, the LGBTQ+ Network, the Menopause Network, the Multicultural Network and the Women's Network are participating in the training sessions.
The XPS Wellness Hour programme encourages employees to take time each month to focus on various aspects of their wellbeing. We've organised a series of events focusing on mental, emotional and physical health including: - Hosting a lunchtime yoga session to help employees learn relaxation techniques. - Inviting a mindfulness expert to conduct an insightful webinar about practical techniques to bring mindfulness to everyday life. - Our Mental Health Allies championed the importance of wellbeing by hosting drop-in sessions and leading lunchtime walks.
Thank you to our XPS colleagues who took part in the JP Morgan Challenge 5k run yesterday! It was great to see everyone's team spirit and sense of community 👏. #BeXPS #teamspirit #thankyou #jpmcc
We'd like to take a moment to thank all of the XPS employees who have gone above and beyond in their volunteering efforts over the past twelve months. From planting, to clearing weeds, to raising much needed funds for worthy causes - they've reached for the trees in their efforts to help both the planet and their communities 👏🌳 #bexps #cleanplanet #lovetheforest
Pride month is a time for the LGBTQ+ community and their allies to celebrate their identities, accomplishments, while taking the time to commemorate the struggles people have faced in the fight for equality. At XPS we also use this time to continue to raise awareness about the challenges the community still faces and to encourage everyone to take action in making our world more inclusive whether that is in the workplace, at home or elsewhere. The LGBTQ+ themed quiz the network hosts annually is also a firm favourite amongst our colleagues and is a great learning opportunity for everyone. #bexps #pridemonth #lovewins
