Mitie, the UK’s leading facilities management company, has appointed marketing veteran Maria Winn, formerly Maria Cameron, as its new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). Maria brings over 20 years of experience to Mitie, having led marketing teams for businesses including BT, Ford Motor Company and Vodafone. She is also the founder of a successful strategic marketing consultancy and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).

Mitie has welcomed 41 new apprentices to its Technical Services Apprenticeship Programme, its initiative to attract and develop the next generation of engineers and ensure Mitie has the talent and expertise to continue supporting its customers for years to come. These apprentices, who joined Mitie in August and September 2021, are in addition to 18 other apprentices which started the Programme earlier this year. This new intake of colleagues takes Mitie past its target of hiring 50 new apprentices in its Technical Services business in 2021.
Mitie has kicked off a new five-year contract to deliver facilities management services for Swansea University. The contract has the option to extend for up to four more years and is worth £2.4 million a year.
Mitie has launched four new Plan Zero BoltON packages, offering simple solutions designed to support Britain’s decarbonisation by helping customers achieve their net zero targets. The BoltON solutions focus on remote building management (Pulse), solar power (Shine), lighting optimisation (Glow) and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure (Charge).
While restrictions have now lifted, almost three quarters (73%) of Brits are still worried about visiting shops and cafés where there are no Covid-19 measures in place, new research from Mitie has revealed1. With a current portfolio of more than 50 sites across the UK, Mitie has committed to having four net zero properties by the end of the Financial Year 20221 and is planning to have an additional 14 net zero sites every year, achieving a fully decarbonised estate by 2025. This commitment is part of Mitie’s Plan Zero pledge to use its significant expertise in facilities and energy management to achieve net zero carbon for its operational emissions by 2025.
