Mitie has won a new seven-year contract to deliver maintenance services on the Future Defence Infrastructure Services (FDIS) programme for sites across Scotland and Northern Ireland. The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), which has made the award, has the option to extend the contract for a further three years. The contract is worth up to £646 million over seven years, including project and billable works. It builds on Mitie’s commitment to support the British Armed Forces.

Mitie has announced today that Lorraine Davis has been appointed as Director of Cleaning Services. With the pandemic demonstrating the importance of cleaning in keeping the nation running safely, Lorraine will be responsible for leading the direction of Mitie’s cleaning business. This appointment builds on Mitie’s investment in industry leading cleaning innovations and its commitment to drive best practice to ensure it continues delivering exceptional cleaning services for its customers.
Mitie has extended its 13-year partnership with the Scottish Government with a new seven-year facilities management contract. The contract, which was awarded following a competitive tender, will see Mitie deliver key services for 70 sites across the country, ranging from offices and research centres through to Marine Scotland’s buildings and the First Minister’s residence.
As the country takes its first steps back to normality with lockdown restrictions steadily lifting, Mitie and independent charity Crimestoppers are appealing to people to report any information they may have about crime against local businesses, from shops to company premises, factories to warehouses.
Mitie has won four contracts, two to deliver facilities management and two to provide catering services for Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust and Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust. These services were previously managed by Interserve Facilities Management but were renewed following Mitie’s acquisition of Interserve in November 2020.
Mitie has won a new three-year contract to deliver security services for Associated British Ports (ABP), the UK’s leading ports group. The contract has the option to extend for a further two years and will see Mitie provide services for ABP’s 21 ports across England, Scotland and Wales.
Spring has officially kicked-off in the UK and with flowers beginning to bloom, many people are getting their gardening gloves ready. However, frequent mowing impacts the habitat of many pollinators and has the potential to reduce the number of bees and flies. So, holding back on the trimmers and lawn mowers in May, when grass’ growth picks-up after a cold winter, can have a big impact on biodiversity as it gives a chance for different types of flowers to grow, boosting nectar production, which is key for pollinators.
