#nationalinclusionweek2021 took place last week and we celebrated the event with both our employees and customers. It's especially meaningful to us that our people tell us that our culture at RHP makes them feel comfortable bringing their full selves to work. We know through experience that different ideas, perspectives, and backgrounds create a stronger work environment that delivers better results. Follow this link to watch a video where employees from our Inclusion Network share their experiences of working at RHP: and the power of being connected through difference. https://lnkd.in/dPpYqMAp
Something that we celebrated all Pride month long was looking at how we can all be effective allies to the LGBTQ+ community. We saw that the Mayor of London was looking for 30,000 (one for every single person who’s ever marched at a London Pride parade) acts of allyship in Pride month, so we knew we had to get involved! We asked our people to share how they’d been there or can be there for the LGBTQ+ community and here’s just a selection of some of the pledges we had. We were proud to add our pledges to be part of the 30,000 🌈 #YouMeUsWe
At RHP, continuous learning is part of who we are: it helps our people be the very best they can be. 2020/21 has had its challenges, but we've kept a laser focus on learning and development: empowering people to take accountability for their own learning, welcoming new starters to the organisation, and supporting employees with their professional development. Here are some standout achievements from the past year.
We love to host talks for our people and with #WorldEnvironmentDay taking place on 5 June, this week was no exception! To mark the day we invited Professor Alistair Griffiths to give us a talk on gardening and wellbeing. Alistair previously worked as Head Scientist at the Eden Project in Cornwall. He now leads the science and collection teams at the Royal Horticultural Society. Alistair's talk focused on how to connect with nature whether you have a garden or not, along with insight into exactly why greenery is so good for us. His tips proved so useful that, not only will we be able to use them in our own lives but we’ll be able to think about how we can use them with our customers too.
Last Friday we ran our first ever virtual employee conference ‘Stronger Together’ – reflecting on how we've remained together in spirit over the past year (despite being physically apart) and celebrating the hero in everyone. The morning included an Avengers themed segment from our Exec Group, an inspiring talk from the wonderful Amar Latif and our own version of the Masked Singer! There was also a breakout activity where people got to chat to others they hadn’t seen in a while. Despite it being online, we were blown away by the energy and enthusiasm everyone brought and there was still plenty of interaction, connection and fun. Thanks to all of our employees who came and made it a memorable event.
This week marked International Women's Day. A key part of our culture at RHP Group is to create an environment where everyone can be themselves and people are treated fairly and equally. We embrace and understand the value that diversity brings – it can only make us better and stronger 💪
We’ve taken part in Race Equality Week’s ‘Big Promise’ initiative which sets out our commitment to create a positive change. This promise is underpinned by our inclusion strategy which is all about actions not just words. You can read more about it here:https://lnkd.in/ddA3Myj #RaceEqualityWeek #TheBigPromise
4 February was #TimetoTalkDay - run by Time to Change to help spread the word that you can talk about mental health anywhere – including at work. We asked our employees to complete the sentence 'It's time to talk because...'. Although at RHP Group we try to talk all year round, it's a good reminder that choosing to talk and listen can change lives and shape experiences: especially in this strange new world.
It's so important to provide our employees with tools that help them feel empowered, connected and healthy. We worked with our Mind Matters Champions to support Samaritans' Brew Monday campaign, giving our mental health a boost by reaching out and staying connected. We kicked off with a virtual 'Tea and Talk' session where people could pop in to catch up and chat with people they might not have seen for a while. We also shared tips and tricks on how to spot when someone might need support with their mental health. In the afternoon we enjoyed some virtual yoga to help us de-stress and stay focused.
RHP Group has achieved Investors in People Platinum for the second time! The Platinum accreditation, which we first gained in 2018, is the highest award in leadership, people management and culture an organisation can achieve. We’re proud to be in this elite group, as only 2% of organisations in the UK have achieved Platinum status and even fewer have attained it twice. The IIP report states: “Passion, purpose, collaboration, excellence, family, innovation and trust are words used regularly at RHP and people are proud to work there. Values are understood and embedded into strategic discussions, team planning, performance management, recruitment and how people are recognised. It’s about people working together and understanding the needs of customers, colleagues and stakeholders by doing the best job they can”.
